Silent Hill f: Is it More Action Game Than Horror?

Hey everyone! I just finished Silent Hill f, and right away, I was shocked by two things: first, the game is super short. It took me about four days to beat with a total of 14 hours. Second, honestly, it wasn’t that scary to me. It focuses more on a creepy vibe than big scares.

The Best Parts: Look and Sound

Now, let’s talk about the good stuff. The game looks amazing. The scenery is gorgeous, and the whole 1960s Japanese setting is a major highlight. The music is also fantastic, very atmospheric, which is a big thing with Silent Hill games. The designs were nice, I found the monsters to look really creative and a bit unsettling at times. Visually and audibly, this game is a winner.

Gameplay: Action Over Horror

My main takeaway on gameplay is that this game is more about combat than traditional horror. Instead of creeping around, you’re fighting a lot. And, true to the series, the combat was often frustrating to deal with. It definitely pulls you out of the horror and makes you focus on the fight. At times, it almost felt like a ripoff of Sekiro.

Final Thoughts & Value

So, is it worth your time? I think it’s worth playing for the amazing visuals and setting. However, there’s a huge factor to consider: to fully understand the complete story and mystery of Silent Hill f , you are essentially required to do at least three playthroughs. Given that a single run takes over 10 hours, asking the average player to commit 30+ hours just to grasp the narrative is a massive ask.

Because of this necessary time sink, the short initial length, and the sometimes annoying combat, it’s probably not worth getting right now at its full price. Wait for a sale.

Overall, I’m giving Silent Hill f a 6 out of 10. I’m glad I played it as my first game for my horror season run.

Let me know your takes on this game. Did you like it? Have you played it yet, or are you planning to? Tell me all about it down in the comments!
