The Devil Wears Prada 2 is Happening And I’m Not Okay

About a week ago, I came across a few videos recorded by people of The Devil Wears Prada 2 set, in which Meryl Streep could be seen dressed as the legendary editor-in-chief of Runway, Miranda Priestly. Anne Hathaway, lovely as ever, was seen back in her character of Andrea(Andy) Sachs and, of course Stanley Tucci in the role of the one and only Nigel. We also recently, got some pictures of Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton.

This movie has been to me, one of those movies that you watch once and it always lingers in the back of your mind over the years. I remember going with my parents to watch The Devil Wears Prada back when it was first released in 2006, for years I remembered bits of the movie here and there, but it all felt like a distant memory. Recently, I decided to give it another watch, basically nineteen years later and I swear, it was as if seeing it for the first time again.

As if the viral set videos weren’t enough, we now have an official announcement confirming that the sequel is in production. Check out The Hollywood Reporter’s news brief below!

A Closer Look at The Characters Over The Years

Imagine my surprise when I saw that, these characters were going to make a come back twenty years later. I was delighted! I knew that the novel, which shares the same title, has three following sequels. Although I am yet to read them. The author, Lauren Weisberger based her novels on her personal experience. Specifically on her time as the personal assistant of Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour after graduating from college.

What We Know of The Plot So Far

The film will follow Miranda Priestly as she faces the decline of traditional magazine publishing and the threat of digital media. This shift from physical to digital is especially interesting, and it shows just how much the world can change in twenty years. To see someone as powerful as Miranda Priestly forced to come up with a strategy to survive this new era is pretty fascinating. What makes it even more intriguing is that she’ll be clashing with her former assistant, Emily Charlton, who is now a high-powered executive at a rival luxury group. Meanwhile, all signs point to Andrea Sachs returning as a successful journalist, potentially caught in the middle of this high-stakes rivalry. This dynamic of the old guard vs the new guard, with Emily having the power Miranda now desperately needs, sets up a brilliant and highly relevant plot.

After all the waiting and rumors, the fact that we’re getting to revisit this world and see all these amazing characters, is the ultimate fashion fantasy come true. What are you most excited to see in the sequel, and what did you think of the new looks we’ve been given so far? Let me know in the comments below! That’s all.
